Fairfield Dog On Wheels Captures Hearts Across The World

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- A paralyzed Fairfield dog has captured nearly 100,000 hearts on Instagram.

Albert -- or @albertonwheels -- could get even more famous, as he's in the runnings for a prestigious Shorty Award, which honors the crem de la crem of social media.

Past winners include Taylor Swift, Tyler Oakley, Casey Neistat, Hannibal Buress, Malala Yousafzai, Jenna Marbles, J.K. Rowling, Adele and DJ Khaled.

The 8-year-old Shih Tzu-Poodle mix aims to show that special needs dogs can live life to the fullest.

He is paralyzed from the hips down -- likely in a car accident -- and was rescued from a shelter by owner Jill Lawson. Together, they began adventuring around her native New England and beyond.
